53 Days

Only 53 days left till the BIG day. If I think about everything on my plate, I'm overwhelmed. I'm trying to take it one step and one day at a time. We're going to LA this weekend to take our engagement pictures- should be fun.

Not Today, but Maybe Tomorrow

We were very excited to check out the California Academy of Sciences that opened to the public today. Doo doo doo, on our way to the park. Much to our dismay we could not get in. We needed free membership passes that they were previously passing out to gain entrance. We were told that people started lining up at 5:30 am and free passes were all gone hours ago. Back to home we went.

First Week of Class Stinks!

*Update: I got into Chemistry! =)
I couldn't add Human Anatomy after all. The classes were all over enrolled to begin with plus I had a really late registration date. Right now I'm fighting my way into Chemistry. It's pretty full, but I'm sticking it out until the 3rd week to see if anyone drops out...I hope they do. I need this class in order to take Physiology and I need to take Human Anatomy too!

Free Food for Millionaires, written by Min Jin Lee was highly recommended by a random stranger I met working at Sunhee Moon. I read an excerpt of the book and was instantly hooked wanting to know more. I just got the book today and I'm excited to dive into it. I'll blog my thoughts about the book soon after I read it.

About 2 months ago, we went to the SF Giants baseball field to see the opera. It was free, outdoors and via satellite...err, I think. It was fun eating and enjoying the nice weather, but I think an opera is difficult to see if you're not actually there. The picture of the sandwich below is called Buttendwich. It's the result of two ends of a bread loaf, thus butt- end- wich. I didn't make it up, Tim did.

Summer session is almost over. Next Wednesday is my last day and finals day. So far I enjoyed abnormal psychology. I hope I can add Human Anatomy and Chemistry for fall session. Since I already have my BA, I get last priority when it comes time to adding classes. I have to physically go to all the classes during the first week of school and hope that some students don't show up so that the instructor could add me. It's a pain in the butt, because I'm nervous that I won't be able to get the classes I need. Working and going to school at the same time has been giving me a good kick in the arse, but I'm getting through it. Everyday I come to the fact that I can't do this on my own. Instead of worrying so much about my future I should lift it up to Him. It would be much easier if I could do that automatically, but sometimes I forget that He's there.

When I come across other people that are going through very similar decision processes and career changes like me, it makes me feel a lot better. Today, I came across someone almost in the same situation as me. We both come from creative backgrounds, yet we're going into the medical field. Several people said doubtful comments to me like, "you're a painter, do you think you'll do well in your science classes?" or "You're a creative person, why are you going in that field?" Comments like that annoy me. I don't know if I'll do well, but I'm going to try damn hard. I know that they're just worried and looking out for me, but seriously- no thanks. Let's all try to think positively. I have met people in my class that are over 40 and making career changes as well. They haven't been in school for a very long time. Seeing them in class with me inspires me to do well.

Going off topic now...I leave you with this:

Last night Tim took me to watch the movie Sex and the City. First we went to the theaters in the Bloomingdales shopping center, but the tickets were all sold out, so bummed. We could have gone home, but Tim knew how much I wanted to see it so we went to Kabuki theater...turns out they were sold out too. The only available time was 10:15pm and Tim being as sweet as he is was willing to wait an hour and a half to watch this movie with me. To kill time we got yogurt and tea.

Poor Tim, he burned his tongue and got a bloody nose that night.
