Naps

Oh naps. Before my babe came along I had no idea that babies needed daytime naps. Of course I knew that they sleep a lot, but little did I know that naps are necessary. Eme has been struggling with naps for almost 2 months. I was able to put her down for a nap, but the trouble was having her sleep longer than 30-45 minutes. I've read that babies have sleep cycles that last approximately 45 minutes and often have a hard time consolidating them. Well, I don't know if it's her age or just a one time miracle, but she slept for 90 minutes! She stirred around the 45 minute mark, but after 5 minutes she fell back asleep and I did not intervene. This. is. amazing. Amazing because just yesterday she was waking up crying every 30 minutes and needed to be shushed/patted back down. Maybe the acid reflux medication is helping her or maybe it's because she's almost 100 days old. Whatever it is, I hope it continues. She is a happier baby when she gets a good nap. About the 100 day thing- it's Korean tradition to celebrate a baby's 100th day because back in the day so many babies died before their 100th day. So this weekend we celebrate her 100th day, yay!

My Life Now

This happened:
Her face is almost done peeling from baby acne. I was so stressed when baby acne suddenly appeared overnight, but her pediatrician said it's very common and should go away within a few weeks. My life has drastically changed, but I'm loving it so much. She's such a joy and I die every time she smiles at me. I'm still amazed by it all. Never knew how hard taking care of a newborn would be. It's damn hard, but so rewarding.

Keeping Busy

I'm officially 37 weeks pregnant today. I can't believe I'm so close to meeting my baby. I'm super excited! In the meantime I've been trying to keep myself busy with a few projects. I decided to give my niece and nephews their Christmas gifts in handmade stockings. I also made stockings for my in-laws and brother-in-law. The only 2 left that I still need to make would be for me and my husband. Here are the stockings:

Who will she look like?

Min (Tim's brother), mother-in-law, & Tim

Tim

Tim

me

looking dazed and confused
Tim and I often talk about who Emerson will look like. Will she be a combo of both Tim and me or will she look more like Tim or more like me? I think Tim was such a cute baby and he's so handsome to me right now so if she looked like her dad, then I would be happy. There are certain things that I really hope she inherits from Tim such as his height, his slim-fit body, and his hands. However, I wouldn't mind if she had my eyes or my nose (even though I hated my nose growing up). I think Emerson might be born with a full head of hair. In both our baby pictures, we both have major fro action going on, lol.

Very Pregnant

I haven't blogged for a long time. I thought I would blog at least every week during my pregnancy to document this experience, but unfortunately blogging was the last thing I felt like doing. Now, I'm fairly close to my due date and before I completely neglect this blog ( i hope i don't), here are a few pictures of my baby bump in no particular order.

Yummy Chicken

Saw a chicken recipe on www.milkandmode.com. Recipe is from Jenny Rosentrach's book Dinner: A Love Story. This chicken is really good and easy to make. Make it this week for dinner. It will not disappoint.

Sushi

I am looking forward to meeting my baby girl, but one of the drawbacks of pregnancy is that I can't eat sushi. I absolutely love sushi and used to eat it at least once a week. I hope to go to Japan one day to eat at Sukiyabashi Jiro. If you're a sushi lover like me you must watch Jiro Dreams of Sushi (watch instantly through netflix.com).
